Effective Altruism (EA) is both an intellectual project and a community.
On one hand, it's an intellectual project of people using evidence and reasoning to figure out how to help others as much as possible. On the other hand, it's also a community of people taking action to help others as much as possible based on the research and evidence.
There are several EA groups in Africa, and the EA community in South Africa has been growing since 2018. As of today, there are more than 250 EA chapters globally across 42 countries, and an estimated 6,500 active people in the EA movement worldwide.
The In-Depth EA Program is an advanced fellowship designed for individuals who have completed the Introductory EA Fellowship or have equivalent foundational knowledge of Effective Altruism principles. This program takes participants deeper into EA concepts, exploring real-world case studies, complex ethical considerations, and cutting-edge research in high-impact areas.
Unlike the introductory program, the In-Depth Program emphasizes critical analysis of both successes and failures in EA-aligned work, preparing participants to make sophisticated judgments about impact and contribute meaningfully to EA projects and organizations.
The course will be entirely online and will take place over 8 weeks.
